Ingredients

  • 3 lb. lean beef, cut into 3-inch cubes
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 Tbsp. bacon drippings
  • 2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 c. catsup
  • 2 c. beef bouillon
  • 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp. red pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar

Instructions

  1. In an iron Dutch oven, brown beef and onion over high heat in the bacon drippings.
  2. Combine chili powder, catsup, beef bouillon, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt, red pepper, vinegar, and brown sugar.
  3. Pour the mixture over the meat in the Dutch oven.
  4. Add the beef bouillon and blend well.
  5. Cover tightly and place in an oven preheated to 250°F.
  6. Cook for 3 hours.
  7. Serve as is with rice and/or beans.
