Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup creamy or chunky-style peanut butter
  • 3/4 cup margarine
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups Quaker oats
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F.
  2. Beat together brown sugar, peanut butter, and margarine until light and fluffy.
  3. Blend in water, egg, and vanilla; then add the combined dry ingredients.
  4. Mix well to form a dough.
  5. Shape dough into 1-inch balls.
  6. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and flatten to 1/4-inch thickness with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar.
  7. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
