Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup margarine or butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1 can Betty Crocker cream cheese frosting
  • Pecan halves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  2. In a large bowl, beat sugar, brown sugar, and margarine until light and fluffy.
  3. Add vanilla and eggs; blend well.
  4. Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt; mix well.
  5. Fold in chopped pecans.
  6. Spread the batter in the prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 23 to 28 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. (Baking for only 13 minutes may cause burning.)
  8. Cool completely in the pan.
  9. Frost with Betty Crocker cream cheese frosting.
  10. Arrange pecan halves over frosting, if desired.
  11. Cut into 36 bars and serve.
