Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean pork, cut into thin strips
  • 2 Tbsp. oil or bacon fat
  • 2 c. diced celery
  • 3 medium onions, sliced
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 1 Tbsp. molasses
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 (28 oz.) can assorted chop suey vegetables, drained
  • hot fluffy rice

Instructions

  1. Saute pork strips for 5 minutes, but not until browned.
  2. Add diced celery and sliced onions; cook for 2 to 3 minutes longer.
  3. Add salt and boiling water.
  4. Stir in molasses and soy sauce.
  5. Blend cornstarch with 1/2 cup warm water and add to the mixture.
  6. Cook until the mixture boils, stirring constantly.
  7. Add more hot water if necessary.
  8. Add the drained assorted chop suey vegetables until thoroughly heated.
  9. Serve hot over fluffy rice.
