Ingredients

  • 1 pkg dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 2 1/4 cups sifted flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup scalded milk
  • 1 unbeaten egg
  • 1/3 cup margarine
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Soften yeast in warm water.
  2. Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Stir cooled, lukewarm milk into the dry ingredients.
  4. Add egg into the yeast and water mixture and beat well.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and roll until 10 x 15 inches.
  6. Cream margarine and brown sugar together.
  7. Spread the margarine and sugar mixture over the dough and sprinkle with chopped nuts.
  8. Roll up the dough starting at the 15-inch side, then cut into 1-inch slices.
  9. Place the slices on a greased sheet and flatten slightly.
  10. Sprinkle with additional nuts if desired.
  11. Let rise for 45 minutes.
  12. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 10 to 12 minutes.
