Praline-Taffy-Apple Pie

Ingredients
- pastry for a double crust pie ⓘ
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar ⓘ
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour ⓘ
- 2/3 cup sugar ⓘ
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon ⓘ
- dash salt ⓘ
- 10 caramels (cut in half) ⓘ
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans ⓘ
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted ⓘ
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice ⓘ
- 6 cups thinly sliced peeled cooking apples ⓘ
- half and half, light cream or milk ⓘ
Instructions
- Prepare the pastry crust and roll out half of the dough into a 12-inch circle on a lightly floured surface.
- Fit the rolled-out dough into a 9-inch pie plate, trimming any excess to align with the rim.
- Roll out the remaining dough for the top crust and set aside.
- Mix the brown sugar, all-purpose flour, sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt in a bowl.
- Spread the mixture over the sliced peeled apples in the pie plate.
- Place the halved caramels and chopped pecans evenly over the apple filling.
- Drizzle the melted butter and lemon juice over the top.
- Cover with the second crust, seal the edges, and cut small slits to vent.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for approximately 45 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving with light cream or milk.
