Tips & Substitutions

For a heartier dish, consider adding diced potatoes or spinach along with the garbanzo beans. If you prefer a milder flavor, reduce the amount of green chili or omit it altogether. You can substitute the Chana Masala with store-bought curry powder if needed, but the authentic taste comes from using Chana Masala. Experiment with adding a pinch of garam masala at the end for extra warmth.

Serving Suggestions

Punjabi Chana is best served hot with steamed rice or warm chapati. For a complete meal, pair it with Curd And Onion Chutney to balance the spices. A side of Indian Corn Meal can complement the dish nicely. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired, and serve with lemon wedges for an extra burst of citrus flavor.

Storage & Reheating

Leftover Punjabi Chana can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, simply warm it on the stovetop over medium heat, adding a splash of water if the gravy is too thick. This dish also freezes well; just ensure it's in a freezer-safe container and consume within 2 months for the best flavor.
