Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb ground beef or sausage
  • 1 medium green pepper, diced
  • 1 medium red pepper, diced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 Tbsp bacon bits
  • 1 (4 oz) can mushrooms, drained and diced
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 Tbsp soy bean oil
  • 1 cup cold water or skim milk

Instructions

  1. Simmer ground beef until tender, then add peppers, onions, and mushrooms. Remove from heat.
  2. Mix flour, cornstarch, oil, and water in a pan.
  3. Stir over medium heat and bring to a boil.
  4. Lower heat and simmer until the sauce reaches desired thickness.
  5. Mix the sauce with the meat mixture and serve over toast, mashed, or baked potatoes.
