Ingredients

  • 2 cups dry lentils
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 5 cups water, divided
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 envelope dry onion soup mix
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Tabasco sauce

Instructions

  1. Rinse the lentils thoroughly.
  2. In a heavy saucepan, bring the lentils, salt, and 4 cups of water to a boil.
  3. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until water is absorbed and lentils are tender.
