Ingredients

  • 1 lb. hot or sweet pork sausage
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 1 c. chopped celery
  • 1 c. chopped green pepper
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 (28 oz.) can cut up tomatoes
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 2 (15 1/2 oz.) cans kidney beans
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. chili powder

Instructions

  1. Combine and brown the sausage, ground beef, chopped onion, chopped celery, chopped green pepper, and minced garlic in a large pot.
  2. Add the canned tomatoes, tomato paste, kidney beans, salt, pepper, and chili powder to the browned mixture.
  3. Simmer over low heat for several hours, allowing flavors to meld and develop.
  4. Better if prepared the day before serving to enhance the flavors.
