  • 1 1/2 Tbsp olive oil

Tips & Substitutions

For a heartier loaf, consider adding seeds like flax or chia to the mix. If you’re out of wheat germ, you can substitute with ground oats. Experiment with different flours; spelt or barley flour can create unique flavors. To ensure a good rise, make sure your yeast is fresh and your water is warm, but not hot, to avoid killing the yeast.

Serving Suggestions

This multigrain bread is perfect for sandwiches and pairs beautifully with a light salad or soup. Try it alongside a Fresh Berry Trifle for a delightful contrast in flavors. Spread a bit of butter or cream cheese on a slice for a quick snack, or use it to make a Philly Beef Stuffed Sandwich for a heartier meal.

Storage & Reheating

Store the cooled bread in a plastic bag at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, wrap it in foil and freeze for up to 3 months. To reheat, slice the bread and toast it, or wrap the whole loaf in foil and warm it in the oven at 350°F for about 10-15 minutes for a fresh-baked taste.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different type of flour?

Yes, you can substitute different flours based on your preference. Just keep in mind that using a different flour may affect the texture and flavor. For instance, using spelt flour can give the bread a nuttier taste, while bread flour can enhance its rise.

How do I know when the bread is fully baked?

The bread is fully baked when it has a golden-brown crust and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom. If you have a thermometer, the internal temperature should read about 190°F. Allow it to cool on a wire rack to finish the cooking process.

Can I make this bread without a bread machine?

Absolutely! You can mix the ingredients by hand or with a stand mixer, then knead the dough until smooth. Allow it to rise in a warm place until doubled in size, shape it into a loaf, and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 30-35 minutes.
