Sara's Pepper Steak features tender beef, sautéed mushrooms, and green peppers in a flavorful sherry sauce, perfect for a hearty, savory meal enjoyed over rice.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. round steak, cut in 1-inch pieces
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1/2 c. sherry
  • 1/4 c. oil
  • 1 lb. mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 green peppers, diced

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, sauté garlic in butter.
  2. Add meat and brown.
  3. Add 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper, 1/2 teaspoon oregano, and sherry. Simmer.
  4. In another pan, cook mushrooms in oil for 5 minutes.
  5. Add 1 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper, 1/2 teaspoon oregano, and green peppers to the mushrooms.
  6. Cover and cook for 10 minutes.
  7. Add the mushroom and pepper mixture to the meat along with tomatoes and heat thoroughly.
  8. Serve over white rice.
