Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup sifted flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 5 oranges
  • 3 bananas
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 pint whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Beat eggs and 1 cup sugar until well combined. Stir in sifted flour, salt, and baking powder.
  2. Add vanilla, chopped dates, and nuts to the batter and mix thoroughly.
  3. Divide the batter evenly between two 8-inch oiled pans and spread smoothly.
  4. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Allow the cakes to cool completely before removing from pans.
