Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup soft oleo
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 package (8 oz.) pitted dates, chopped or snipped

Instructions

  1. Spoon flour into a measuring cup and level off.
  2. Pour the flour onto waxed paper.
  3. Add baking soda, salt, and nutmeg to the flour.
  4. Stir well to blend.
  5. Cream together the brown sugar, oleo, and eggs thoroughly.
  6. Stir in the milk.
  7. Add the blended dry ingredients to the creamed mixture.
  8. Stir in chocolate chips and chopped dates.
  9. Mix well.
  10. Drop by slightly rounded tablespoonfuls, about 2 inches apart, onto an ungreased baking sheet.
  11. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 12 to 15 minutes.
  12. Remove from baking sheet immediately.
  13. Cool on a rack.
