- Combine all-purpose flour, salt, black pepper, ground red pepper, and paprika in a shallow dish.
- Dredge the chicken in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
- Let the coated chicken stand for 30 minutes.
- Pour oil to a depth of 1/2-inch into a large skillet and heat to 350°F.
- Add one-third of the chicken pieces to the hot oil and fry for 20 to 25 minutes, turning once, until golden and cooked through.
- Drain the fried chicken on paper towels.
- Repeat frying with the remaining chicken in batches.
- Garnish with desired toppings, if desired.
