Tips & Substitutions
For a crunchier coating, try adding breadcrumbs to the flour and cheese mixture. You can substitute the cube steak with chicken breast or pork for a different flavor profile. To enhance the sauce, consider adding Italian herbs or a splash of red wine. For a vegetarian option, use eggplant or portobello mushrooms instead of meat.
Serving Suggestions
Serve this dish hot over a bed of noodles or alongside garlic bread for extra texture. A fresh garden salad or steamed vegetables would make excellent side dishes. This recipe also pairs beautifully with a glass of red wine, enhancing the rich flavors of the melted mozzarella and savory steak.
Storage & Reheating
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place the dish in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through, about 15-20 minutes. You can also microwave individual portions, covered, on medium heat for 2-3 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make this dish ahead of time?
Yes, you can prepare the steak and sauce in advance, then assemble and bake when ready to serve. This allows the flavors to meld together, making it even tastier. Just store the components separately and combine before baking.
What can I use instead of mozzarella cheese?
If you don't have mozzarella, any melting cheese will work, such as provolone, gouda, or even a pepper jack for a spicy kick. Just ensure it melts well for that delicious, gooey topping.
Can I freeze the leftovers?
Absolutely! You can freeze the dish after baking. Allow it to cool completely, then cover tightly and freeze for up to 2 months. Thaw in the refrigerator before reheating in the oven or microwave.
