Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1/2 c. melted butter
  • 1 1/2 c. unsweetened applesauce

Instructions

  1. Sift together the flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, ground cloves, nutmeg, cocoa, and cornstarch.
  2. Add the chopped nuts, raisins, melted butter, and applesauce to the dry ingredients and stir until well combined.
  3. Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch angel food or loaf pan.
  4. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
