Tips & Substitutions

For a heartier dish, consider adding bell peppers or carrots for extra flavor and nutrition. If you prefer a lighter option, swap out the smoked sausage for turkey sausage. For a vegetarian version, use plant-based sausage and vegetable broth. Ensure to season well with salt and pepper, as these ingredients can dilute flavors. This casserole is reminiscent of comforting American recipes.

Serving Suggestions

This casserole is a complete meal on its own, but it pairs beautifully with a fresh garden salad or steamed green beans for added crunch. A side of garlic bread can also complement the dish nicely. For a comforting meal, consider serving it alongside Ginny'S Tomato-Shrimp Casserole for a delightful variety.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place the casserole in a microwave-safe dish and cover it with a damp paper towel to retain moisture. Heat in short intervals, stirring occasionally, until warmed through. Alternatively, reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until hot.
