Ingredients

  • 1 unsliced loaf French bread
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 green pepper, cut into rings
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • butter or margarine

Instructions

  1. Cut the loaf of bread lengthwise, wrap in foil, and heat at 375°F for 10 to 15 minutes.
  2. In a skillet, cook ground beef with chopped green onions until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in sour cream, milk, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder into the beef mixture.
  4. Add 3/4 teaspoon salt and heat the mixture until warm but do not boil.
  5. Remove the bread from the oven and scoop out some of the middle to create space for the filling.
  6. Pour the meat mixture into the hollowed-out bread.
  7. Top with shredded cheese and heat until the cheese is melted.
  8. Add sliced tomatoes and green pepper rings on top.
  9. Slice the sandwich and serve while still warm.
