Ingredients
- 8 slices bacon ⓘ
- 2 tsp unflavored gelatin ⓘ
- 1/4 cup cold water ⓘ
- 1 pound fresh mushrooms chopped
- 1 cup green onions chopped ⓘ
- 1/4 cup dry white or red wine ⓘ
- 2 tsp basil ⓘ
- 1/4 tsp salt ⓘ
- 2 cloves garlic ⓘ
- 1/4 tsp Tabasco ⓘ
- 1 cup whipping cream ⓘ
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley snipped ⓘ
- 1 large loaf French bread ⓘ
Instructions
- Cook bacon until crisp.
- Drain and crumble bacon, set aside.
- Reserve 2 tablespoons of bacon drippings.
- In a skillet, cook chopped mushrooms, green onions, garlic, and herbs in bacon drippings.
- Add wine and cook until liquid is reduced.
- Stir in whipping cream, salt, Tabasco, and gelatin dissolved in cold water.
- Cook until mixture thickens.
- Cut the French bread into portions and hollow out the centers.
- Fill the bread with the mushroom mixture and crumbled bacon.
- Bake until heated through and bread is crispy.
