Stuffed Cabbage, Polish Style

- Remove the core of the cabbage and place the whole head in a large pot of boiling salted water.
- Cover and cook for approximately 5 minutes or until the outer leaves are soft enough to remove.
- Remove the outer leaves and cut out the thick center stems from each leaf.
- Sauté the chopped onion in oil until translucent.
- Cook the rice until tender.
- Mix the ground beef, ground pork, sautéed onions, cooked rice, salt, pepper, and beaten egg in a large bowl.
- Place about 2 teaspoons of the meat mixture on each cabbage leaf and roll tightly.
- Arrange the stuffed cabbage rolls in a large pot.
- Chop any leftover cabbage and layer it on top of the rolls.
- Pour the can of tomato soup mixed with half a can of water over the rolls and cabbage.
- Cover and bring to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
