Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. minced onions
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/2 lb. mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 lb. round steak
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp. tomato paste
  • 1/2 c. dry white wine
  • 3 Tbsp. sherry
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • dash of pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. mustard
  • 1/2 c. beef consomme

Instructions

  1. Brown the round steak in a skillet until cooked through, then cut into strips.
  2. In the same skillet, sauté minced onions and sliced mushrooms in butter until tender.
  3. Sprinkle flour and garlic powder over the mushroom mixture, stirring well.
  4. Add tomato paste, dry white wine, sherry (if using), salt, pepper, mustard, and beef consomme to the skillet.
  5. Simmer until the sauce thickens and flavors meld.
  6. Serve the beef stroganoff over noodles or rice.
