Ingredients

  • 8 oz. lasagna noodles
  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 tsp. olive oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped onions
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
  • 2 cups tomato sauce with mushrooms
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp. sweet basil
  • 1 tsp. parsley flakes
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 2 cups creamed cottage cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 16 oz. mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain.
  2. Brown ground beef in a large skillet with olive oil, chopped onions, and crushed garlic.
  3. Add tomato paste, tomato sauce, salt, oregano, bay leaf, basil, parsley flakes, pepper, and water. Simmer for 1 hour.
  4. Combine creamed cottage cheese, egg, remaining salt, and pepper.
  5. Grate mozzarella cheese.
  6. Layer cooked noodles, cottage cheese mixture, beef mixture, and mozzarella cheese in a 13 x 9-inch pan, ending with mozzarella on top.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove from oven and let stand for 15 minutes before serving.
