Ingredients

  • 1 ½ qt. thin sliced potatoes
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 c. green onions, sliced
  • 1 ½ c. bread crumbs
  • 1/4 c. margarine

Instructions

  1. Place thin sliced potatoes in a greased 11¾ x 7½-inch baking dish.
  2. Make a white sauce by melting margarine, then stirring in flour, milk, salt, and pepper; cook until thickened.
  3. Add shredded Cheddar cheese and sliced green onions to the sauce; stir until the cheese melts.
  4. Pour the cheese sauce over the sliced potatoes in the baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle bread crumbs evenly over the top of the dish.
  6. Dot with additional margarine.
  7. Cover with foil and bake at 350°F for 1 hour.
