- Make a white sauce by melting margarine, then stirring in flour, milk, salt, and pepper; cook until thickened.

- Pour the cheese sauce over the sliced potatoes in the baking dish.
- Sprinkle bread crumbs evenly over the top of the dish.
- Dot with additional margarine.
- Cover with foil and bake at 350°F for 1 hour.
