Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. ground chuck
  • 1/2 c. chopped onions
  • 1/2 c. sliced celery
  • 2 Tbsp. quick rolled oats
  • 2 Tbsp. snipped parsley
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 medium head cabbage
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 c. cider vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp. brown sugar

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, cook ground beef, chopped onions, sliced celery, and green pepper until the meat is browned; drain off excess fat.
  2. Sprinkle the meat mixture with quick rolled oats, chopped parsley, 3/4 teaspoon salt, garlic powder, and pepper.
  3. Core the cabbage and cut it into 6 wedges.
  4. Place the cabbage wedges on top of the meat mixture in the skillet.
  5. In a bowl, combine tomato sauce, cider vinegar, brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and a dash of pepper; mix well.
  6. Pour the sauce over the cabbage and meat in the skillet.
  7. Cover and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes until the cabbage is tender.
  8. Serve immediately.
