Ingredients

  • 1 to 1 1/4 lb. ground beef
  • 2 cups whole tomatoes, drained and chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups whole kernel corn with red and green peppers, drained
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2/3 cup ripe olives, chopped
  • 1/2 cup catsup
  • 1/4 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 can Pillsbury refrigerated quick crescent rolls
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1/3 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar or American cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Brown ground beef in a skillet and drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in drained chopped tomatoes, drained corn with peppers, tomato sauce, chopped olives, catsup, chopped onion, and chili powder.
  4. Simmer the mixture while preparing the crust.
  5. Separate the Pillsbury refrigerated quick crescent rolls into 8 triangles.
  6. Place triangles in an 8-inch or 9-inch square pan or a deep 9-inch or 10-inch pie pan.
  7. Press the dough over the bottom and up the sides to form a crust.
  8. Brush the crust with oil and sprinkle with cornmeal.
  9. Spoon the hot meat mixture into the crust.
  10. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top.
  11. Bake until the crust is golden brown and cheese is melted.
