Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup strong coffee
  • 1/4 cup dark unsweetened cocoa
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 can milk chocolate frosting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour and sugar.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the margarine, shortening, strong coffee, and dark cocoa.
  3. Bring to a boil.
  4. Pour the heated mixture into the flour and sugar mixture; add buttermilk, eggs, baking soda, and vanilla.
  5. Mix well until smooth.
  6. Pour the batter into a well-greased 11 x 13-inch pan.
  7. Bake at 400°F for 20 minutes or until done.
  8. Allow the bread to cool, then frost with milk chocolate frosting.
