Texican Burger
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground chuck or 1 lb lean ground beef ⓘ
- 1 cup crushed corn tortilla chips (baked or fried) ⓘ
- 1/2 cup chopped onion ⓘ
- 1 egg whites or 1 whole egg ⓘ
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon paprika ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder ⓘ
- 4 whole wheat hamburger buns or 4 bakery buns ⓘ
- jalopeno mayonnaise ⓘ
- 1 tablespoon minced pickled jalapeno ⓘ
- 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic ⓘ
- 1/2 cup light mayonnaise ⓘ
- shredded cheddar cheese ⓘ
- one large avocado, sliced ⓘ
- shredded lettuce
- salt ⓘ
- pepper ⓘ
Instructions
- Combine the first 10 ingredients in a medium bowl. Mix with hands until combined. Shape beef mixture into four round patties. Cook over medium heat on grill for 5 minutes per side or for longer if desired.
- For the Jalopeno Mayo.
- Combine the pickled jalopeno, cilantro, minced garlic in a small bowl. Cover and chill to ready to use.
- To assemble burgers, spread the mayo on the buns (buns can be toasted if desired). Add patties and top with shredded cheddar cheese, lettuce, and avocado slices add a pinch of salt and pepper to taste if desired.
