Tim Downs' Barbecue
Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef ⓘ
- 1/2 green pepper, chopped ⓘ
- 1 large onion, chopped ⓘ
- 2 cloves garlic, minced ⓘ
- 2 Tbsp. celery leaves ⓘ
- 1 large bay leaf ⓘ
- 2 tomatoes, chopped ⓘ
- 2 Tbsp. catsup ⓘ
- 1/2 to 3/4 c. grated cheese ⓘ
- 2 tsp. prepared mustard ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon and cloves ⓘ
- 3/4 tsp. allspice and oregano ⓘ
- 2 heaping Tbsp. chili powder ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper ⓘ
- 1/4 tsp. salt ⓘ
- 2 rounded Tbsp. sugar ⓘ
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. vinegar ⓘ
Instructions
- Brown meat with onion, garlic and green pepper.
- Drain fat. Add celery, bay leaf, tomatoes and catsup.
- Add some water, if necessary.
- Add spices and simmer for 20 to 30 minutes.
- Add sugar and vinegar.
- Add cheese and stir until melted.
