Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider using ground turkey or chicken instead of beef. If you want to add more spice, include a diced jalapeño or a dash of cayenne pepper. You can also substitute fresh corn if available. This tortilla stew can be made ahead of time, allowing the flavors to meld even more. Just be careful not to overcook the tortillas when adding them at the end.

Serving Suggestions

Serve this hearty tortilla stew hot, garnished with fresh cilantro or avocado slices for added freshness. It pairs beautifully with cornbread or a side salad. For a complete meal, consider serving it alongside Rice Veracruz or with some crispy tortilla chips for dipping.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, warm it gently on the stovetop over low heat, adding a splash of water if it’s too thick. You can also microwave individual portions, covered, for quick reheating.
