Traditional Jam Cake

Instructions
- Grease and flour a 9-inch tube pan or two 9-inch pans.
- Start oven at 325° for tube pan or 350° for layer pans.
- Combine butter and sugar; beat at high speed until creamy and smooth.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.
- Remove beaters and stir in jam, then sifted dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk.
- Stir in raisins and nuts.
- Put in prepared pans.
- In tube pan, bake 1 1/2 hours.
- In layer pans, bake about 35 minutes.
- Test near center with toothpick; if it comes out clean, remove from oven.
- Cool. Frost with caramel or cream cheese frosting.
