Ingredients

  • 3 cups soft bread crumbs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped celery
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup catsup
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup

Instructions

  1. Soak bread crumbs in milk, then add eggs and beat with a rotary beater.
  2. Add ground beef, ground pork, chopped onion, chopped celery, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper; mix thoroughly.
  3. Divide the mixture into 2 loaves and place into a 9 x 13-inch glass or Pyrex baking dish.
  4. Bake uncovered at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour.
  5. Glaze the loaves with catsup and corn syrup, then bake for an additional 15 minutes.
