- Drain the steaks and mushrooms, reserving the juice.
- Dip the steaks in beaten egg, then coat with bread crumbs.
- Fry the coated steaks in oil until brown on both sides.
- Sauté chopped onions and mushrooms in a little oil until tender.
- Layer the fried steaks, sautéed onions, and mushrooms in a casserole dish alternately.
- Combine 1 cup of the reserved juice with sour cream and pour over the layered casserole.
- Add milk if necessary to reach desired consistency.
- Bake in a 350°F oven for 30 minutes or until bubbly and the top is lightly browned.
- Let stand a few minutes before serving.
