Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon wheat germ
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt into a large bowl.
  2. Stir in wheat germ, brown sugar, vanilla, vegetable oil, milk, and beaten egg.
  3. Mix just until blended.
  4. Let the batter stand for about 5 minutes while the griddle heats.
  5. Pour batter onto the hot griddle.
  6. Immediately sprinkle about 2 teaspoons of chopped walnuts onto each pancake.
  7. When bubbles form on the surface, flip the pancake.
  8. Cook for about one more minute.
  9. Serve with butter and hot maple syrup.
