Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup uncooked wild rice
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1/4 cup melted margarine
  • 3/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 green onions
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 2 1/2 ounces canned sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon marjoram
  • dash ground nutmeg
  • dash garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Soak wild rice in hot water for 1 hour and then drain.
  2. Saute wild rice in melted margarine until golden brown.
  3. Add chicken broth and salt, then cover and simmer for about 25 minutes or until tender.
  4. Add green onions, chopped celery, drained sliced mushrooms, marjoram, ground nutmeg, and garlic powder.
  5. Toss lightly to mix all ingredients well.
  6. Serve as a stuffing or side dish.
