Ingredients

  • 1 cup Crisco oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups sifted regular flour
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 cup cut up cooked prunes
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, beat Crisco oil, eggs, and sugar until smooth.
  2. Combine sifted flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice.
  3. Add alternately with buttermilk and vanilla to the egg mixture, mixing until smooth.
  4. Combine 1 tablespoon flour, chopped prunes, and nuts.
  5. Add the flour, prune, and nut mixture to the batter and mix well.
  6. Pour batter into a greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  7. Bake at 325°F (160°C) for 50 to 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
