Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 cup thick sour milk
  • 1 cup mashed bananas
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/2 cup chopped dates
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 beaten egg whites

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add egg yolks and mix well.
  4. Stir in thick sour milk and mashed bananas until combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  7. Fold in chopped nuts and chopped dates.
  8. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form, then gently fold into the batter.
  9. Pour batter into a greased baking pan.
  10. Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
