Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 cups grated apples, unpeeled
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Beat eggs and oil in a mixing bowl until foamy.
  2. Add sugar and vanilla and continue to beat.
  3. Add grated apples, beating slightly; set aside.
  4. Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cloves.
  5. Add raisins and chopped walnuts to the flour mixture.
  6. Gradually add the flour mixture to the egg mixture.
  7. Beat slightly until combined.
  8. Pour batter into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  9. Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Cool the cake before frosting with Non-Sweet Frosting.
