Art'S Stroganoff

A hearty beef or goat stroganoff with rich wine sauce, sautéed mushrooms and onions, topped with creamy sour cream, perfect for comforting family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef or chevon (goat) sirloin tip or eye of round
  • 2 cups Burgundy wine
  • 2 medium onions
  • 2 cups mushrooms
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • 3/4 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 1 stick (1/4 lb) margarine

Instructions

  1. Marinate the meat in Burgundy wine about one hour before cooking.
  2. Cut the meat into pieces after butchering or buying, then freeze the needed amount for each meal.
  3. Place the frozen meat directly into the wine and let sit for two hours to marinate.
  4. Sauté one-third of the margarine in a pan and cook the marinated meat until browned. Remove and set aside.
  5. In the same pan, add another third of the margarine and sauté onions until translucent.
  6. Add mushrooms to the pan and cook until tender.
  7. Dissolve beef bouillon cubes in hot water and add to the pan along with the wine from marinating.
  8. Return the browned meat to the pan, season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, and simmer until the meat is cooked through and flavors meld.
  9. Cook egg noodles according to package instructions and drain.
  10. Stir sour cream into the meat mixture, heat through but do not boil.
  11. Serve the stroganoff over cooked egg noodles.
