Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons butter or oleo
  • 4 pounds ground beef
  • 1 (14 oz.) bottle catsup
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon monosodium glutamate
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

Instructions

  1. Saute chopped onion in butter until tender.
  2. Add ground beef; brown lightly and drain excess fat.
  3. Add remaining ingredients to the beef mixture.
  4. Simmer, covered, for 30 minutes to develop flavors.
