Ingredients

  • bear meat for stew
  • margarine
  • 4 onions, sliced
  • 4 potatoes, quartered
  • 4 carrots, sliced
  • 2 turnips, sliced
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 12 small white onions
  • 2 bay leaves
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Cut the bear meat into 1-inch cubes.
  2. Brown sliced onions in a stew pot along with the meat.
  3. Add water and simmer until the meat is almost tender.
  4. Add potatoes, carrots, turnips, celery, additional onions, and bay leaves.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Continue cooking until the vegetables are done.
