Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 4 egg-sized onions, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. ground red pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 5 whole bay leaves
  • 3 c. water
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp. crushed red pepper
  • 1 tsp. seasoned salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tsp. whole allspice

Instructions

  1. Saute beef and onion until the beef is no longer red.
  2. Drain excess fat from the beef mixture.
  3. Add all remaining ingredients as listed to the beef and onion mixture.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cook for 3 hours.
  5. Stir frequently during the last hour to prevent sticking.
  6. Serve hot, optionally over spaghetti with grated cheese and chopped onion.
