Bearden Chili
Bearden Chili is a hearty, flavorful dish featuring ground beef, aromatic spices, and a rich tomato base, perfect for comforting gatherings or family dinners.
Ingredients
- 2 lb. ground beef ⓘ
- 4 egg-sized onions, chopped ⓘ
- 2 Tbsp. vinegar ⓘ
- 3 Tbsp. chili powder ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. ground red pepper ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. cumin ⓘ
- 1/4 tsp. garlic powder ⓘ
- 5 whole bay leaves ⓘ
- 3 c. water ⓘ
- 2 tsp. cinnamon ⓘ
- 2 dashes Worcestershire sauce ⓘ
- 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce ⓘ
- 1 tsp. crushed red pepper ⓘ
- 1 tsp. seasoned salt ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper ⓘ
- 1 tsp. whole allspice ⓘ
Instructions
- Saute beef and onion until the beef is no longer red.
- Drain excess fat from the beef mixture.
- Add all remaining ingredients as listed to the beef and onion mixture.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cook for 3 hours.
- Stir frequently during the last hour to prevent sticking.
- Serve hot, optionally over spaghetti with grated cheese and chopped onion.
