Ingredients

  • 2 lb beef stew meat
  • 3 medium onions
  • 3 Tbsp oil
  • 3 heaping Tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp thyme
  • 1/2 tsp cloves
  • 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp catsup
  • 2 c boiling water or beef stock

Instructions

  1. In a large, heavy skillet, brown the beef stew meat and sliced onions in oil. Reduce heat to low.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients (flour, salt, pepper, thyme, cloves) in a bowl and sprinkle over the meat mixture.
  3. Add the apple cider vinegar, catsup, and boiling water or beef stock.
  4. Cover with a tight-fitting lid.
  5. Stir often to prevent sticking.
  6. Cook for 2 to 2 1/2 hours on low heat or until the meat is tender.
