Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless sirloin steak
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • Cooking spray (vegetable)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 large onion, quartered
  • 3 stalks celery, sliced diagonally
  • 1/2 pound sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1 green pepper, cut in strips
  • 1/2 pound fresh snow peas
  • 1/2 bunch broccoli flowerets
  • 1 can sliced water chestnuts

Instructions

  1. Trim fat from the steak and cut across the grain into strips.
  2. Combine water, cornstarch, soy sauce, sugar, and oyster sauce. Set aside.
  3. Coat a wok or skillet with cooking spray and heat on medium-high for 2 minutes.
  4. Add the steak and stir-fry about 3 minutes until browned.
  5. Remove the meat from the wok and set aside.
  6. Add onion, celery, mushrooms, green pepper, and sliced water chestnuts to the pan drippings in the wok.
  7. Stir-fry for 2 to 3 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.
  8. Add the cooked meat, broccoli florets, and snow peas to the wok.
  9. Cover and reduce heat to medium. Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.
  10. Stir in the soy sauce mixture and cook on medium, stirring constantly until bubbly.
  11. Serve hot over rice.
