Ingredients

  • 8 oz. boneless beef top round steak
  • 4 oz. vermicelli or spaghetti
  • 1 Tbsp. cooking oil
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 (16 oz.) can tomato wedges
  • 1 (9 oz.) pkg. frozen Italian style green beans
  • 1 (4 oz.) can sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 (6 oz.) can Italian style tomato paste
  • 1/2 tsp. fennel seed
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper

Instructions

  1. Partially freeze the beef to make it easier to slice.
  2. Trim excess fat from the beef.
  3. Thinly slice the beef across the grain into bite-sized strips.
  4. Cook the vermicelli or spaghetti according to package instructions.
  5. Drain the pasta and keep warm.
  6. In a skillet, heat the cooking oil over medium heat.
  7. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened.
  8. Add the sliced beef to the skillet and cook until browned.
  9. Stir in the tomato wedges, green beans, sliced mushrooms, and tomato paste.
  10. Add fennel seed (if using) and pepper, then simmer until heated through and flavors meld.
