Ingredients

  • 1 to 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1/4 cup diced green peppers or green chiles
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 can biscuits
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup onions
  • 1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 1/2 cups Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten

Instructions

  1. In a frying pan, brown ground beef, onions, and green peppers. Stir in tomato sauce, chili powder, and garlic salt.
  2. Simmer the meat mixture while preparing the dough.
  3. Separate the biscuits and pull apart into two layers. Press 10 biscuits into the bottom of an ungreased 8 or 9-inch square baking pan.
  4. In a bowl, combine 1/2 cup shredded cheese, sour cream, and the beaten egg. Mix well.
  5. Remove the meat mixture from heat and stir in the sour cream mixture.
  6. Spoon the meat mixture over the biscuit layer in the pan. Arrange the remaining biscuits on top and sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
  7. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20 to 30 minutes until golden and bubbly.
