Ingredients

  • 4 qt. green tomatoes
  • 4 qt. ripe tomatoes
  • 2 large heads cabbage
  • 3 large green peppers
  • 4 large red peppers
  • 2 bunches celery
  • 6 large onions
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 4 lb. brown sugar
  • 1 cup horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon mustard seed

Instructions

  1. Let green tomatoes stand overnight, then drain and peel the tomatoes.
  2. Grind peppers, celery, cabbage, and onions.
  3. Add brown sugar, horseradish, pepper, mustard seed, and vinegar to the mixture.
  4. Boil the mixture for 15 minutes.
  5. Seal in hot jars.
