Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup quick or old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can cream cheese frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small mixing bowl, pour boiling water over oats and let stand.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the margarine, sugar, and eggs.
  4. Add the soaked oats to the creamed mixture.
  5. Sift together the flour, soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  6. Stir the dry ingredients into the oat mixture.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  8. Bake for 35 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Cool completely, then frost with cream cheese frosting.
