Ingredients

  • 8 oz Brie
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary, crumbled
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons coarsely chopped walnuts
  • 15 phyllo sheets
  • 1 cup melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground pork
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon savory
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground thyme

Instructions

  1. Cook the chopped onion and crushed garlic in butter until softened.
  2. Add ground pork and sauté, stirring and breaking the meat into small pieces.
  3. Pour in water and add seasonings: dried rosemary, cayenne, savory, ground cloves, cinnamon, and ground thyme.
  4. Cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. If the mixture looks watery, add a little cornstarch to thicken.
  6. Chill the pork mixture before using.
  7. Preheat oven and prepare phyllo sheets by brushing with melted butter.
  8. Place a small amount of the pork mixture on each sheet, top with a slice of Brie, and sprinkle with chopped walnuts and crumbled rosemary.
  9. Fold or roll the phyllo to enclose the filling, then brush with beaten egg and melted butter.
  10. Bake until golden and crispy, about 20-25 minutes.
