Ingredients

  • 5 lb. brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 lb. shortening
  • 12 egg, beaten
  • 1 lb. nuts and/or chocolate chips
  • 2 lb. raisins
  • 1 pt. milk
  • 2 lb. oatmeal
  • 1/4 c. soda, dissolved in a little vinegar
  • 1/4 c. baking powder
  • 6 lb. flour
  • 6 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Cream the brown sugar and shortening until well combined.
  2. Add the beaten eggs to the mixture and mix thoroughly.
  3. Stir in molasses and the dissolved soda.
  4. Alternately add the remaining dry ingredients and milk, mixing well after each addition.
